Bio
Chris A. Montgomery is from Orillia, Ontario and began his architectural career in 1981. Gaining experience in six different Toronto offices during his academic years, he graduated from the University of Toronto in 1988 with a Bachelor of Architecture (Honours) degree.
Mr. Montgomery has demonstrated the ability to translate programmatic demands into architecture with a sure eye for mass and proportion. From 1988-90 he taught Architectural Design Studio at the University of Copenhagen.

Prior to forming his own firm, Chris apprenticed at several Toronto firms including Michael Kirkland Architect, Joe Lobko Architect, Baird/Sampson architect, Zeidler/Roberts Architects and Anthony Kemp Architects.
In Copenhagen he worked for Arkitekter Bystrup & Bregenhøj and Per Christensen Arkitekt.
In 1990, Chris joined Matsui Baer Vanstone Architects Inc. where he worked as a Project Architect on numerous custom residential projects and condominium projects (Grand Harbour, The Chedington, One Rosehill and 280 Bloor West)
In 1992 he completed a Master’s of Environmental Studies at the University of Waterloo, with a focus on new town planning and development. In 1993, Chris began to work independently, building a practice around serving the residential market.
Chris A. Montgomery Architect was formed as a sole proprietorship. Since that time he has completed work in all corners of the Greater Toronto Area as well as throughout southern Ontario.
Chris is a member of The Ontario Association of Architects. The Ontario Association of Architects is a self-regulating organization governed by the Architects Act, which is a statute of the Government of Ontario. The Association is dedicated to promoting and increasing the knowledge, skill and proficiency of its members, and administering the Architects Act, in order that the public interest may be served and protected.
Ontario’s Architects are highly trained professionals, bound by professional ethics and regulations. To be registered as an architect, an individual must meet demanding professional education requirements, gain years of practical experience in all aspects of architectural practice and pass extensive examinations.
Only members of the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) may legally use the title “Architect” and “OAA” after their name. All architects offering services to the public must also have a “Certificate of Practice” and belong to the OAA Indemnity Plan which insures all their projects.
In 1988, Chris was awarded the Lieutenant-Governor’s Medal for Outstanding Performance & Design Proficiency.
