Albemarle Avenue, Toronto

This large 3 storey Victorian dwelling had been renovated by a previous owner that radically changed the flow and configuration of the home. This new renovation sought to restore some of the original layout while at the same time updating the house with some more contemporary features. The most significant change to the ground floor was the relocation of he main stair. By pulling it more to the centre of the building, the required circulation route was shortened and and this allowed the front room to become larger. The kitchen, dining and sitting areas in the back of the house were reorganized in a more open concept manner that took better advantage of the access to the backyard. A large skylight was added over the garden room sitting area. Minor changes were made at the second floor level to optimize the layout and a bay window was added to a rear bedroom. The previously open third floor was given greater structure and a split master bathroom and dressing areas were added.
