Toronto Employment & Social Services
This new 10,000 square foot employment and social services centre for the City of Toronto is comprised of self-help employment kiosks, a resource centre and counselling facilities. Program and meeting space is also available for seminars, workshops and community use.
Morningside Avenue
This design transforms a 14 foot wide two storey hillside home by exposing the basement as a front yard walkout and new entrance level. The previous ground floor becomes a second floor living, kitchen and dining room level and the upper level is reconfigured into two bedrooms and bathroom. A new stair is inserted through the centre of the house providing compact circulation and a source of natural light and ventilation from the third floor roof terrace.
Ellis Avenue
The existing garage in this dwelling was renovated to become a breakfast/siting area adjacent to the kitchen. The garage was rebuilt further forward with a new adjacent front door vestibule. A new second floor was built over this addition creating a new master bedroom suite with ensuite bathroom and an existing small bedroom was expanded. A wooden pergola was constructed at the front door and across a portion of the existing ground floor living room. Matching brick and color co-ordinated pre-finished wood siding was used to unify the appearance of the existing and new portions of the house.
